During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we worked with a ton of terrific organizations — from disability advocacy groups, university centers on excellence in developmental disabilities, and service providers to land grant universities, departments of horticulture and social entrepreneurship initiatives. We have new connections with folks in Georgia, Delaware, Minnesota and Nebraska.
Here’s a great quote from Kathy Hoell, Executive Director of the Nebraska Statewide Independent Living Council: 16 different organizations that serve the disability community in Nebraska decided to come together and have a virtual week-long celebration of NDEAM. The highlight of our celebration was the film “Hearts of Glass.” As a person with a disability, I’ve always had faith in people with disabilities to be independent and have real jobs at competitive wages. Now others realize the dream is possible!
